👉 Question (1) Which two temples in Kathmandu does the author visit, and with whom ?

लेखक काठमांडू में कौन-से दो मंदिरों को देखने जाता है, और किसके साथ ? 

✍️ Answer. The author, with Mr. Shah's son and nephew, visit two temples in Kathmandu. They are, the Pashupatinath temple and the Baudhnath stupa. 

👉 Question (2) What does the sign outside Pashupatinath temple proclaim ? 

पशुपतिनाथ मंदिर के बाहर का साइन-बोर्ड क्या घोषणा करता है ? 

✍️ Answer. The sign outside Pashupatinath temple proclaims 'entrance for the Hindus only'. 

👉 Question (3) Who roam through the grounds ?

धरती पर कौन घूमते हैं ?

✍️ Answer. Priests, Hawkers, Devotees, Tourists, Cows, Monkeys, Pigeons and Dogs roam through the grounds. 


👉 Question (4) Why do saffron-clad westerners struggle for permission to enter ? 

जोगिया वस्त्र पहने पश्चिमी देशों के लोग प्रवेश की अनुमति के लिए संघर्ष क्यों करते हैं ? 

✍️ Answer. Saffron-clad westerners struggle for permission to enter because they are not allowed to enter as only Hindus are allowed to enter the temple.

👉 Question (5) What does one of the two monkeys that fight do ?

लड़ने वाले दो बंदरों में से एक क्या करता है ? 

✍️ Answer. One of the two monkeys that fight jumps out a shivalings, then runs screaming around the temples and down to the river Bagmati.

👉 Question (6) What is about 'a small shrine half protuded from the stone platform on the river bank' said ? 

'एक छोटा मंदिर नदी पर पत्थर के चबूतरे से आधा उभरा हुआ' - के विषय में क्या कहा गया है ? 

✍️ Answer. About this shrine it is said that when it emerges fully, the goddess inside will escape, and the evil period of the Kaliyug will end on earth. 

👉 Question (7) How is the Baudhnath stupa different from Pashupatinath temple ?  

बौद्धनाथ स्तूप पशुपतिनाथ मंदिर से किस प्रकार भिन्न हैं ?

✍️ Answer. At Pashupatinath temple there is an atmosphere of 'febrile confusion', while at the Baudhnath stupa, there is a sense of stillness.

तिब्बती अप्रवासी क्या चीज बेचते हैं ?

✍️ Answer. Tibetan immigrants sell felt bags, Tibetan prints and silver jewellery.

👉 Question (9) The author buys a bar of marzipan, and a roasted corn-on-the cob. What other things does he buy ? 

लेखक बादाम से बनी मिठाई की टिकिया, और भुना हुआ भुट्टा खरीदता है | वह और क्या चीजें खरीदता है ? 

✍️ Answer. Besides a bar of marzipan, and roasted corn-on-the cob, the author buys a couple of love story comics and a reader's digest.

👉 Question (10) The author feels exhausted and homesick. On what date does he think of going back home ?

✍️ Answer. The author feels exhausted and homesick. He thinks for going back on 31 st of August.


👉 Question (11) Where is the flute seller sellings his flutes ? What does he do to the flute, he selects ? 

बांसुरी बेचने वाला अपनी बांसुरिया कहाँ बेच रहा है ? चुनी हुई बांसुरी का वह क्या करता है ? 

✍️ Answer. The seller is selling his flutes standing in a corner of the aquare near the hotel. He plays the flute he selects for a few minutes. 

👉 Question (12) Why does the author find it difficult to tear himself away from the square ? 

लेखक अपने आप को चौक से दूर रखना मुश्किल क्यों पाता है ?

✍️ Answer. He is so much lost in flute music that he finds it difficult to tear himself away from the square.

👉 Question (13) Name some sort of flutes. 

कुछ प्रकार की बांसुरियों के नाम बताए |

✍️ Answer. The reed neh, the recorder, the Japanese shakuhachi and the clear flutes of South America, are some sort of flutes.

👉 Question (14) What is living breath ? What does it need ? 

जीवंत श्वास क्या होती है ? इसे किस चीज की आवश्यकता होती है ? 

✍️ Answer. The motive force of the flute is living breath. It needs to pause and breathe before it can go on.

👉 Question (1) Give a brief description of the Pashupatinath temple and the Baudhnath stupa. 

पशुपतिनाथ मंदिर तथा बौद्धनाथ स्तूप का संक्षिप्त वर्णन करें | 

✍️ Answer. Pashupatinath temple is a Hindu shrine. Only Hindus are allowed to enter here. There is an atmosphere of 'febrile confusion' here. Priests, hawkers, devotees, tourists and even animals roam through the grounds here.

At the Baudhnath stupa, there is a sense of stillness. Its immense white dome is ringed by a road. Various sort of things can be had at small shops standing on its outer edge.

👉 Question (2) How does the author describe Kathmandu ? Write in your words. 

लेखक काठमांडू का वर्णन कैसे करता है ? अपने शब्दों में लिखें |

✍️ Answer. In Kathmandu there are two temples : the Pashupatinath and the Baudhnath stupa. In Kathmandu holy Bagmati river flows. You can buy various types of things at small shops near the Baudhnath stupa.

At the square near the hotel, the author sees some vendors. He is specially attracted by the flute seller who on a pole has about 50-60 flutes. He is praying a flute its melodious music attracts the author very much.

👉 Question (3) Where and how does the flute seller sell his flutes ? What else does he do ?

बांसुरी-विक्रेता कहाँ तथा कैसे अपनी बांसुरिया बेचता है ? वह और क्या करता है ? 

✍️ Answer. The flute seller is standing in a corner of the square near the hotel. In his hand he has a pole with an attachment at the top from which fifty or sixty bansuris protrude in all direction. They look like quills of a porcupine and other many things.

They are cross flutes and recorders. The seller, from time to time, stands the pole on the ground, selects a flute and plays for a few minutes. Occasionally he does make a sale too, but selling bansuris doesn't seem to be his primary business.

👉 Question (4) The author is greatly impressed by the flute music. What does he say about it ? 

लेखक बांसुरी की संगीत से बहुत प्रभावित है | इस विषय में वह क्या कहता है ? 

✍️ Answer. The author is attracted by the music of the flute seller. He doesn't want to leave the square. He says that every culture has its own flute. The reed neh, the recorder, the Japanese shakuhachi, the deep bansuri of Hindustani classical music are some.

To him hearing any flute seems to be drawn into the commonality of all mankind. Its motive force is living breathe. It needs to pause and breathe before it can go on.
