1. How does the poet request us to save tree?

(कवि हमसे पेड़ों को बचाने का निवेदन कैसे करता है?)

Ans. The poem portrays a tree like a living being. The description of its getting wounded, bleeding, feeling pain and at last dying arouses pity in our heart. We feel an urge to save tree.

2. How does a tree flourish?

(एक पेड़ कैसे फलता-फूलता है?)

Ans. A seed gets its food inside the earth. Then it rises out and starts feeding upon earth's crust. It absorbs sunlight, air and water. Then leaves come out of its shoot and by it becomes a full grown tree.

3. What effect does hacking and chopping lay upon a tree?

(एक पेड़ पर कार छाँट का नया प्रभाव पड़ता है?)

Ans. Hacking and chopping causes much pain to a tree.It bark begins to bleed. But it soon gets well and new things start coming out of it. This pain cannot kill it.

4. What happens when a tree is jabbed with a knife?

(जब किसी पेड़ को चाकू से गोदा जाता है, तो क्या होता है?)

Ans. When a tree is jabbed with a knife, it gets wounded. Its bark begins to bleed. But it soon heals and become green again.

5. How does a tree defy death?

(एक पेड़ कैसे मृत्यु को पीछे धकेल देता है?)

Ans.

When a tree is chooped its bark begins to bleed.But this wound is not enough to take its life.It heals and green twigs again rise out of it.

 I. Read the following stanzas and answer the questions based on them:

 1. It takes much time................ sprouting leaves. 

 Questions: 

 (i) How much time does it take to kill a tree ? (वृक्ष की हत्या करने में कितना समय लगता है?) 

Ans. It takes a very long time to kill a tree.

 (ii) 'Not a simple jab of the knife will do it.' What does 'it' refer to here? ('चाकू का साधारण आघात यह नहीं करेगा।' 'it' यहाँ पर किसकी ओर संकेत करता है?)

Ans. Here it' refers to the killing of the tree'.

 (iii) What does a tree absorb ? (पेड़ क्या अवशोषित करता है?)

Ans. A tree absorbs sunlight, air and water.

 (iv) Where do leaves sprout ? (पत्तियाँ कहाँ फूटती हैं?) 

Ans. Leaves sprout out of the leprous hide of the tree.

Ans. "To hack and chop' is asked here to cut or kill a tree.

Ans. The bleeding bark will heal.

(iii) Where will curled green twigs rise from? (मडी हई हरी टहनियाँ कहाँ से उगेंगी?)

Ans. Curled green twigs will rise from close to the ground.

(iv) Which word in the above stanza mean the same as 'delicate'?

Ans. If they are not checked, miniature boughs will expand again to former size.

Ans. To kill a tree it should be roped, tied and pulled entirely out of the earth.

Ans. The word in the above stanza that means the same as 'delicate' is 'sensitive'.
