👉 Question (1) Who was the little girl afraid of ? When did she feel a glad sense of relief ?

 ✍️ Answer. The little girl was afraid of her father. When she heard the noise of (Her father's) carring growing fainter and fainter down the long road, she felt a glad sense of relief. 

 👉 Question (2) What orders did 'father' give when he came back home in the evening ? पिताजी ने क्या आदेश दिए जब वे शाम को घर वापस आए ? 

 ✍️ Answer. When he came back home in the evening, her father ordered to bring his tea into the drawing room. Then he asked her mother to bring his paper and slippers. 

 👉 Question (3) Who was ordered to take off his shoes ? किसको उनके जूते ले जाने का आदेश दिया गया ?

 ✍️ Answer. The little girl was ordered to take his shoes.

 ✍️ Answer. No, she did not always stutter because she was not habitual of stammering. 

 👉 Question (5) Which sentence in the story show father was 'so big' ? कहानी में कौन-सा वाक्य दर्शाता है कि पिताजी 'बहुत बड़े' थे ?

 ✍️ Answer. The sentence in the story that shows that father was 'so big' is. He was so big- his father and his neck, especially his mouth when he yawned. 

 👉 Question (6) Why did grandmother send her down to the drawing-room on Sundays ? What did she find there ? रविवार को दादी माँ उसे नीचे ड्राइंगरूम में क्यों भेज देती थी ? उसने वहाँ क्या पाया ? 

 ✍️ Answer. On Sundays grandmother sent her down to the drawing-room to have a talk with her (Kezia's) parents. There she found father lying on the sofa snoring and mother reading.

 👉 Question (7) What did grandmother suggest Kezia for her father's birthday ? दादी माँ ने केजिया को अपने पिताजी के जन्मदिन के लिए क्या सुझाव दिया ? 

 ✍️ Answer. Grandmother suggested Kezia that she should make a pin-cushion out of a beautiful piece of yellow silk for a gift to her father on his birthday.

👉 Question (8) What mistake did Kezia make when she was preparing 'her surprise' ?

जब वह 'अपना आश्चर्य ' तैयार कर रही थी, तो केजीया ने क्या गलती की ?

✍️ Answer. When she was preparing 'her surprise', i.e. a pin-cushion, Kezia took sheets of fine paper lying on the bed table, more them into fine pieces and stuffed them into her pin-cushion.

✍️ Answer. Father punished Kezia by hitting her little, pink palm with a ruler.

✍️ Answer. No, Kezia did not forget about the punishment as did Grandmother hoped. When she saw her father next time, she put both her hands behind her back in reaction.

✍️ Answer. Mr. Macdonald had got five children. When the girl peeped through a gap in the fence, she found them playing 'tag'.

✍️ Answer. 'The same old nightmare' that come to Kezia again was- the butcher with a knife and a rope. He came nearer and nearer, smiling with a dreadful smile. 

👉 Question (13) It was not a butcher. It was father. How did father console his daughter ? 

यह कसाई नहीं था | ये तो पिताजी थे | पिता ने अपनी पुत्री को कैसे सांत्वना दी ? 

✍️ Answer. Father brought the frightened child in his arms to the big bedroom. He put the child on the bed and lay beside her. He, thus consoled the little girl. 

👉 Question (14) Her attitude towards her father changed. What did she think about him ?

✍️ Answer. She thought that her father was not so big after all. There was no one to look after him. He got tired to work hard every day. He was too tired to be Mr. Macdonald.

✍️ Answer. Kezia was a little girl. She was much afraid of her father. There are some incidents that show it. When her father before leaving for work came to her for a casual kiss, she got frightened and felt relieved only when the sound of his carriage grew fainter and fainter when she much afraid.

When she tore away her father's papers, she was punished. She would aften see a nightmare of a butcher with a knife and a rope. That also made her extremely terrified. 

👉 Question (2) When Kezia looked into their neighbour's house, what did she see ? What image did she form about fathers ? 

जब केजिया ने अपने पड़ोसियों के घर में देखा, तो उसने क्या देखा ? पिताओं के विषय में उसके मन में क्या धारणा बनी ? 

✍️ Answer. When Kezia , one evening, peeped through a gap in the fence of their next door neighbours- the Macdonalds, she saw Mr. Macdonald playing 'tag' with his five children. Little baby, Mao was on his shoulders and two girls hanging on to his coat pockets running round and round the flowers- beds. 

They were laughing. Once she saw the boys turn the hose on Mr. Macdonald and his running after them. She decided there were different sorts of father. 

👉 Question (3) Write the story of "The little girl" in your own words.

✍️ Answer. Kezia was a little girl. She had her father, mother and grandmother in her family. She was frightened of her father. She remained terrified till her father was at home. One day her grandmother suggested that she should prepare a pin-cushion for her father's coming birthday.

She saw a nightmare of a butcher with a knife. She cried out, 'Grandma ! Grandma !' She opened her eyes. It was her father. He took her in his arms and brought her to the big bedroom where he lay beside her. Now the girl realized her father was no cruel. He lived her. 

👉 Question (4) Give a brief character-sketch of Kezia.

केजिया का संक्षिप्त चरित्र-चित्रण कीजिए |

✍️ Answer. Kezia is a little girl. She loves her father as dearly as she does to her mother and grandmother, but she is afraid of him as he is a big man, is strict and always scolds him. She stammers too. But she does so only before her father as she is scared of him.

She wants her father to be as loving as Mr. Macdonald, her neighbour is. In the end, when she sees a nightmare and walks up to find her father who makes her lie with him. She clings to him and now realizes how wrong she was about him and he loves her dearly.
